What is USU swing?
We are dedicated to sharing with the community the rich American heritage of these unique dance styles and invite all of those who are interested to come celebrate with us!
Currently, we have three dance teams that travel around the intermountain region to compete, perform, teach, and learn. Our competition team, Swingcopation, has placed in finals for competitions around the United States for the past five years!
Our teams are supported by the USU Big Band Swing Club. This club meets every Thursday at 7:00 with FREE lessons that are often taught by our dance coaches and even our team dancers! At 8:00 the floor is opened for social dancing.

Jody Jerez
Jody began her swing dancing 10 years ago. She began teaching dance in highschool to a team she co-founded.
Jody has been a featured teacher and special coach for aerials for four dance teams, and many different couples. She has coached aerials for all three of the teams that perform and compete with USU.
With her speciality in aerials Jody has birthed over 15 new aerials for the swing dancing world. These give a "oh, no!" moment to make sure the audience is watching. But she is sure to train each person to perform these with no risk of injury.
Jody's soft-spoken nature is not to be confused with shyness, but insteads cloaks her in a shrowd of mystery. Once you see her dance, you'll understand how she brings life to her dance. You'll see her style and sass that she brings to each of her dances!
Marcquessa and Jody began their dance careers with each other in high school, but both took very different paths to arrive together. Both have instructed one another until they finally realized that their partnership was something different from everyone else. With their ambition and witt, you'll be sure to have a fun learning experience!
Together they have learned from Skye Humphries and Frida Segerdahl, Mike Faltesek and Casey Schneider, Jeremy Otth and Laura Keat, and Virginie Jensen.
Even though they have been dancing with each other for 10+ years, Marcquessa and Jody have only officially been dance partners for a brief period of time. However, together they have already accomplished much and plan to exceed expectations.
